Hi Im Robb!
My journey into video and motion design began with a deep love for music. After high school, I moved to Houston and enrolled at the Art Institute to study Music Business, set on being a music producer. I wasn't interested in taking the video production course included in my curriculum. However...I went on my first production shoot, and within 15 minutes of being on my first production set, I knew my career path.
I absorbed everything cinematography, lighting, and set production. I worked on short films, music videos, and brand and training videos. I collaborated with various video producers and admired their skills in managing projects and interacting with clients.
Most producers then would hire a video editor to edit their projects together. I knew that I wanted to produce and edit. A new chapter began when my grandmother, who helped raise me, was diagnosed with cancer. I returned to San Antonio to support her.
Fast forward to my first job as an editor. It wasn't as glamorous as I thought. But exciting. Hundreds of long and repetitive edits in the studio shaped my style as an editor. A turning point came when my grandmother passed away. She supported everything I did. Felt powerless. I felt the need to do something. Three years later, during an edit session with the director of video production at UT Health San Antonio, I learned about an opening for a video producer position. After a 25-year career as a senior producer, where I dedicated my work to healthcare professionals in honor of my grandmother, I retired and founded Betti Lou Creative. Becoming a video producer was the right choice for me, and I wouldn't change a single frame of my story. I'm truly enjoying this moment!

The Video Production Process
Pre - Production
During the pre-production phase, the client shares their "wish list" for the video. I am a creative leader and problem solver who brings these ideas to life. This phase involves identifying potential speakers, such as team members, organizational thought leaders, or hired talent, and discussing essential visuals for the video. Then, the plan is put into motion.
Production
Once a video project starts,
I take on the responsibility of organizing all logistics and management prior to production and filming. This involves putting together the right production crew, talent, and equipment, as well as handling scheduling logistics. On the day of filming, I serve as the director and field producer on set, making sure that everything runs smoothly and according to schedule. I also supervise the creative direction and quality control, ensuring that the crew captures everything that was planned during pre-production.
Post - Production
After filming, I also oversee the post-production timeline, budget tracking, and provide constructive feedback on the creative editing process. It's my responsibility to ensure all deadlines are met, and I take the lead in bringing the vision of the video to life.
